I am co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Tideline Data. Before that, I was a data scientist at DeviantArt, writing infrastructure code, using machine learning and visualization to improve the site, and serving as the academic outreach coordinator. In the past I spent time in the video game industry, working on artificial intelligence for Max Payne 3 at Rockstar Games, and as an artificial intelligence lead at Mad Doc Software before it became Rockstar New England. My interest in games was sparked by using them as a research platform during my Ph.D. and Postdoc at the MIT Media Laboratory in the Cognitive Machines group, and I spent some time as an assistant professor teaching and researching games at SFU where I still am an adjunct professor.
You can find past academic projects, published and unpublished writings (including my Media Lab Ph.D. thesis) and more on these pages.
